David’s Story – Finding His Place in the World

Outline

David, 17, came to us carrying a weight beyond his years. Following the loss of his father, he had withdrawn from the world – spending most of his time isolated at home, battling depression and social anxiety. Experiences of bullying at school had left him feeling like he didn’t belong anywhere.

When David began working with one of our counsellors, he was given a safe and gentle space to explore his feelings, grieve his loss, and slowly begin to rebuild his sense of self-worth. Over time, he found a deeper level of acceptance – both for what he had been through and for who he was becoming.

Alongside counselling, David joined Blair and Chris in our gardening projects – and developed a new relationship with himself and those around him. Working with the earth, his hands, and a team who genuinely cared gave David a new sense of identity, purpose, and emotional grounding that he hadn’t felt in a long time.

Within a few months, David began to rediscover his self-worth and found a genuine sense of gratitude for his journey – proud of who he has become.

"Working with Chris and Blair has been the most inspiring journey."
